Course Award
Manual Handling training - Certificate of Attendance.
Awarded by Clive Kelly Safety Limited and valid for 3 years.
Certificates will certify the participant's successful completion of written the written & practical assessment modules.
Course Duration
The course is of up to 3 hours duration with a maximum of 12 candidates catered for.
Course Description
The Manual Handling training course is suitable for any person whose work puts them at risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs).
Entry Requirements
Participants will undergo a practical assessment and multi-choice written assessment on the day of the course.

- you have any reading or writing difficulties
Course Location
We can deliver Manual Handling Courses onsite at your company, or we can organize a suitable venue close to your location.
Venue Requirements
- A room suitable to seat 12 people comfortably (with tables/desks if possible)
- An area suitable for manual handling demonstrations
- A white wall or projector screen.
Course Objectives
At the end of the training course participants should be able to:
- Explain in brief the manual handling duties of the employer and employees
- List typical manual handling risks and injuries
- Explain how to risk assess general manual handling tasks
- Describe the 8 principles used in manual handling techniques
- Demonstrate safe manual handling techniques based on the 8 principles

Assessment
Skills Demonstration (80%):- In skills demonstrations, candidates will be observed carrying out the following practical tasks:
Lifting or moving a sample load from point A to point B and verbalising the procedure:
- From ground level
- From mid-height
- From a height
- Pushing/Pulling
- Team Lift
An observation check sheet will be used to identify the expected skills and activities.
Examination (20%):- The theory based examination assesses the candidate's ability to recall and apply theory and understanding requiring responses to 10 multi-choice answer questions.
The questions may be answered in different media such as in writing or orally.
Grading
- 50% - 64% = Pass
- 65% - 79% = Merit
- 80% - 100% = Distinction
